The Idaho AgrAbility Project assists people with disabilities who are working on farms and ranches.
Agriculture consistently ranks as one of the nation's most dangerous occupations. Thousands of people
working in agriculture sustain disabling injuries in work-related accidents each year. Thousands more
acquire disabilities through non-farm injuries, illnesses, health conditions, and the aging process.
The presence of a disability can jeopardize the rural and agricultural futures of these individuals.
By adapting equipment, modifying operations, promoting accessibility, and using assistive technologies (pdf),
the majority of agricultural workers who have disabilities can continue to earn their livelihoods in
agriculture and participate fully in rural community life. AgrAbility combines agricultural know-how
with disability expertise to provide the assistance needed to make these changes through a variety of services.
